People who frequent D’Urban Park either for recreation or exercise were shocked by the discovery of the body of a man later identified as Clint Gravesande.
Gravesande was said to have grown children. He hailed form Alberttown.
One man said that he uses the area to exercise. He said that he last saw Gravesande alive yesterday morning. He was not considered a regular at D’Urban Park. The man said that yesterday was the first time he saw Gravesande there.
Another person who uses the area said that he is always out there exercising.
He said that there are times when other people would be there early.
“Everybody does use the Park and the stands to run. This morning while we coming up here we saw the blood (in the stands).”
He contended that a lot of people’s lives are at risk. “When you come out here early in the morning you don’t know what can happen to you. Sometimes you come out here to exercise and you ain’t going home back.”
He said that the area is used as a night shelter by the homeless and questionable characters. Gravesande’s body appeared to have been slashed.
He was said to be the third person killed at D’Urban Park.
From evidence at the scene, Gravesande appeared to have been sleeping when his assailant pounced. The now dead man attempted to flee but collapsed on a bridge at D’Urban Park.
