The Ministry of Health recorded 33 new cases of COVID-19 on Wednesday. This brought Guyana’s total to 1,093. There have been 534 recoveries leaving the number of active cases at 528.

Region Four still has the highest number of recorded cases at 378. The death toll reached 32 with the death of 52-year-old Alfred Humphrey.  The victim was said to be a diabetic.

Representative of the Pan American Health Organisation/World Health Organisation (PAHO/WHO) Dr. William Adu-Krow in now urging the Government to revert to the 12-hour curfew.

Dr. Adu-Krow noted that he can only make recommendations in his capacity and the final decision lies with the Government.

The current curfew period comes to an end on Monday, August 31.
