The Ministry of Health today received a quantity of 1000 Paxlovid medication donated by the United States Government to aid in Guyana’s COVID-19 response.
Leading the handing over was the Deputy Chief of Mission attached to the Embassy of the United States of America, Adrienne Galanek.
She said that the donation signifies the United States steadfast commitment to the people of Guyana. She stated that this donation is part of a broader multipronged support to the Government and people of Guyana in the continued COVID-19 Response.
Health Minister Dr Frank Anthony said that the value of the US donations would have significantly impacted many lives, and as there is an evolution of the COVID virus in a new variant called the JN1 of which cases have been reported.
