Abdoelkajoem Bhoelan, 49, a labourer, and his wife Bibi Bhoelan, 44, are now counting their losses after they were robbed of cash and jewelry by the marauding bandits.
Information is that the wife was in the yard when the robbers invaded the premises. One of the invaders was armed with a handgun while the others had cutlasses and knives. Her husband was also in the yard. The couple was held up, forced into the lower-flat of the house, and beaten by the bandits who eventually left with more thanUS$500 along with a quantity of local currency and two cellphones.
The bandits then forced the couple upstairs where they tied them. They also placed two pillowcases over the couple head before escaping.
The husband managed to free himself and raise an alarm.
The police were contacted and arrived at the scene, but the bandits had already escaped. Investigations are ongoing.
