The Ministry of Heath recorded 40 new cases of COVID-19 on Thursday November 26.
One case was recorded in Region Two, one in Region Three, four in Region Four, 26 in Region Six, two in Region Seven, one from Region Eight, three in Region Nine and two in Region Ten.
The total number of recorded cases in Guyana is now 5,276.
The COVID-19 death toll has increased to 150 with the deaths of a 69-year-old man from Region Two and a 53-year-old woman from Region Four. There have been 25 deaths recorded so far in November.
As of November 26, Thursday, 28,878 persons have been tested for the virus. 4,252 persons have recovered leaving 874 active cases in the country.
The Orealla/Siparuta Village Council decided on Thursday evening to completely lock down the village of Siparuta from 6:00 a.m. today.
The decision was taken after 20 new COVID-19 cases were recorded at the Amerindian Settlement The total number of cases in the community stands at 50. Its sister village of Orealla has nine confirmed cases.
A gate has been constructed across the Terrakulli Bridge which links the villages of Orealla and Siparuta. Toshao Carl Peneux said the gate is being guarded by Police officers to prevent persons moving from one village to the other.
Peneux also highlighted that persons from Siparuta who tested positive with the coronavirus had not been adhering to the COVID-19 guidelines as set out by the Ministry of Health.
