Four persons robbed

Four persons were attacked and robbed by armed bandits along the Meten-Meer-Zorg Public Road, West Coast Demerara on Tuesday evening. The victims are Shiradatt Ramlall, 25; Aneela Raghemoudan, 33; Paul Jaipaul, 25; and Lohouna Rakesh Pitamber, 29.
The four of them were heading home along the road when they were approached by two men on a motorcycle around 06:30 p.m.
One of the bandits, who was armed with a gun, began to hit them with the weapon and then relieved them of their belongings. The bandits then fled the scene on the motorcycle.
The stolen items included two cellular phones valued $28,000 and $36,000 from Ramall; a cellphone valued at $35,000 and $3,000 in cash from Raghemoudan; jewelry valued at $90,000, and a phone valued at $20,000 from Jaipaul; and a cellphone valued at $7,000 and $ 45,000 in cash from Pitamber.
After the victims made a report to the police and the area was searched. Two residents of Zeelugt, East Bank Essequibo – who matched the descriptions given by the victims – were taken into custody. They were also found with a motorcycle that matched the description of the one used by the bandits.
