The Head of America’s development bank, Adam Boehler, is leading an investment mission to Guyana.

The US Embassy hosted a virtual press briefing with US Ambassador to Guyana, Sarah-Ann Lynch, and Boehler, Chief Executive Officer of International Development Finance Corporation (DFC), last evening.

Boehler will discuss investment opportunities and highlight the US Government’s Growth in the Americas initiative to support economic growth and security cooperation in the region.

Boehler was appointed as the Chief Executive Officer of DFC by President Donald Trump and unanimously confirmed by the Senate on September 26, 2019.

According to the DFC website, they partner with the private sector to finance solutions to various challenges and invest in energy, healthcare, critical infrastructure, technology and other sectors. DFC also provides financing for small businesses and women entrepreneurs to create jobs in emerging markets.

Boehler’s visit comes less than a month after US Secretary of State, Mike Pompeo, came to Guyana.

During Pompeo’s visit a Framework Agreement was signed with Foreign Affairs Minister, Hugh Todd, to strengthen cooperation in various sectors including energy and infrastructure, under the umbrella of the Growth in the Americas Initiative.
