Hire car driver charged with rape, but victim is dead

A Corentyne hire car driver is before the court after allegedly raping a 14-year-old, girl, who later committed suicide.
The defendant, 30-year-old Ameer Inshanally appeared at the Reliance Magistrate’s Court yesterday before Magistrate Rabindranauth Singh and was charged with the raping of a minor.
According to the charge, it is alleged that on June 6 at Albion, Corentyne he raped a 14-year-old girl.
Singh was not required to enter a plea and was remanded to jail until July 13.
Reports are that on the day in question, Singh offered the young girl to take her to school the said morning.
The child, knowing Singh as a hire car driver, took the ride. When the vehicle reached her school, he drove passed.
Singh allegedly took the young girl to a dam in Albion on the Corentyne and committed the act.
He later dropped her off at a junction near her street. After reaching home, the young girl did not relate to her parents what happened because she was scared to do so.
Sometime later she waited until her mother was asleep and consumed a poisonous substance.
She was rushed to the Corentyne medical centre unable to breathe on her own.
In the hospital, however, she related all that transpired in a statement, naming her attacker also.
The girl spend days in a critical condition. She later succumbed.
