Nursing assistant slapped with charges over Ponzi scheme

A Nurse who was wanted in connection with a Pyramid Scheme (Blessings Circle) was today slapped with several charges of fraud. The charge read that she obtained money under false pretence.
That Suspect is 32-year-old, Nurse Assistant, Keziah Jeuel Roberts, a Resident of Eping Avenue, Bel Air Park
Roberts today appeared in the Georgetown Magistrate Court Magistrate before Magistrate Leron Daly and was not required to plead to the three counts of obtaining money by false pretence.
It is alleged that Roberts between January 5 and January 8, 2021, in Georgetown, with the intent to defraud, obtained the sum of $80,000 each from Lynn Melvin, Devika Hiralal, and Mellisa Rupi by falsely pretending that she was in a position to invest the said money and deliver $360,000.
Is was further alleged also when she made a court appearance before Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan that on January 19, 2021, at Turkeyen, East Coast Demerara, with the intent to defraud, obtained the sum of $40,000 from Saskia by falsely pretending that she was in a position to invest the said money and deliver $120,000.
She was granted $180,000 bail and was ordered to lodge her passport at the court; she was further instructed to report to the Special Organised Crime Unit (SOCU) and return to court on May 21 for all of her matters.
A wanted bulletin was issued for Roberts after several people complained about not having returns after they would have invested their monies.
Roberts later turned herself in and was charged for the crime.
