Permanent Secretary Hicks appears in court

Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Amerindian Affairs, Sharon Hicks, appeared before Chief Magistrate, Ann McLennan, to answer a charge of corrupt transaction by an agent.
According to the police, on October 7, last, Hicks obtained $200,000 from Heramanie Chintamanie as an inducement for processing payment requests. At the time she was in her office at Quamina and Thomas Streets, South Cummingsburg, Georgetown.
She was represented in court, today, by attorney at law Sase Gunraj.
She pleaded not guilty and was placed on $100,000 bail. She was also ordered to return to court on December 20.
