Police nab bandit with stolen items following break in of Courts New Amsterdam Branch

One man is in custody and more are being sought following the break-in of the Courts Furniture Store in New Amsterdam.
Bandits between 18:00 hrs on Monday and 03:05 hrs on Tuesday broke into the Courts Furniture store situated at Main and St. Ann Streets, New Amsterdam, Berbice and stole a quantity of items.
Information revealed that the perpetrators gained entry into the building by smashing the glass door which is situated at the front of the building and is secured.
The bandits then removed a number of items including one 43″ TCL flat screen television, one black song PS 4, one black LG cellular phone, one black Samsung cellular phone and one black Alcatel cellular phone.
Police received information about the break and immediately sped to the area and began their investigation. Investigators observed that the lower half of the door which is facing the main public road was broken.
The ranks began making checks around the area and found the suspect who is a 38-year-old unemployed male of Timmer’s Dam, Angoy’s Avenue, New Amsterdam, Berbice in close proximity to the scene walking with the suspected stolen articles.
He was arrested and escorted along with the articles to the Central Police Station where he was placed into custody and the articles lodged. Another suspect is being sought.
