DIAMOND GROVE MEDICAL CENTRE
685 -687 BLOCK C SECTION Y  GROVE
EAST BANK DEMERARA

Dear Sir,

It is with great sadness I learn that my friend and patient Khurshid Sattaur has passed away. I grieve because I was not there to provide critical medical care and support for him over the last few months. Despite my best efforts to return home, COVID-19 has me stranded overseas, although I received clearance to return.

This is the second time I am overseas at a critical time. The last time was when a dear friend and patient Haslyn Parris passed away. At the time I was in NYC caring for my other good friend, Clyde Roopchand. Seems like only yesterday we lost the best and brightest.

Now I take some comfort in providing Telemedicine to some of my patients but yearn to return to attend and care for my patients.

Khurshid will be remembered by me as a man of great talent. Tasked with heading the largest Government Agency and being a loving son and father, he was always too busy. To some, he had a volcanic temper, no doubt shaped by his impatience and fierce urgency for excellence as head of the Guyana Revenue Authority.

Yet he was also capable of great acts of kindness and generosity to which I bear witness. Few people will understand the full measure of his devotion to his job and the sacrifices he made as head of the GRA.

I knew Khurshid as a friend and patient over the years, first caring for his father, and then himself. We talked about many issues, challenges and regrets. He was greatly upset when he left his job as Commissioner General of the Guyana Revenue Authority.

Later he understood and was grateful because this was the best thing that could happen to him–that he had the opportunity to spend the gift of precious time- those golden years with his beloved family. PRICELESS.

I wish to thank my dear friend and colleague Dr Mellissa Dazzell and staff at the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation for providing such excellent medical care for Khurshid Sattaur.

To his beloved mom, children, family friends and the CIOG I extend my deepest condolences and sympathies for our great loss.

RIP

Sincerely

Dr. Carl Niamatali
