Two GDF ranks, one businessman charged for stealing some $745.5M in fuel

Two Guyana Defence Force Ranks and a businessman have found themselves facing the court over a $700 M fuel theft scheme over a five-year period and were placed on $300,000 bail each.

The trio, 35-year-old, Terry Milling of South Cummings Lodge; 34-year-old, Delon Wilson, Kuru Kururu, Seosdyke-Linden Highway, who are both GDF ranks, and 48-year-old businessman, Gangadeo Sridat, of Vreed –En- Hoop, West Demerara all appeared before Magistrate, Judy Lactchman in the Diamond Magistrate’s Court to have the charge was read to them.

According to the police, all three of the accused between 1st January, 2015 and the 30th June 2020 at the Guyoil Terminal, Providence, East Coast Demerara conspired with each other and with persons unknown to commit a felony.

They stole $745, 559,430 million in fuel, property of the Guyana Defence Force.

The three pleaded not guilty. They were placed on $300,000 bail each and ordered to return to court in January.

Reports are that the two ranks were in charge of collecting fuel for the GDF when it was discovered during an internal audit that the high quantify of fuel was never delivered to the GDF.

Subsequently, the Police were called. An investigation was launched and the three were arrested and later charged.
