Thirty-six-year-old Quincy Lloyd Roach, who was charged with murder, was earlier today (August 30, 2022) remanded to prison for the offence.
The accused of Ujaama Housing Scheme, La Bonne Intention, East Coast Demerara appeared before Magistrate R. Liverpool at the Sparendaam Magistrate’s Court where the charge was read to him.
He was not required to plead and was subsequently remanded to prison until 2022-10-14.
The victim was Tasina Dazzell, a 28-year-old housewife of lot 46 Ujaama Housing, Scheme, LBI, ECD. She was killed 27-08-2022 about 23:35 hrs at the mentioned address.
Enquiries disclosed that Dazzell and Roach shared a common law relationship. They would often have domestic issues.
However, the woman never made any report to the police.
On the date of the murder, the deceased’s cousin, a 33-year-old Secretary of the said area, who was also her neighbour, was awakened by screams. She immediately opened her door and upon doing so she saw the now deceased woman running out of her yard and on to her bridge where she fell and lay motionless.
Roach exited the house and joined a minibus and made good his escape heading in the northern direction.
The body of the deceased was examined and stab injuries were seen. Her body was escorted to the GPHC where she was pronounced dead on arrival. The suspect later went to the Turkeyen Police Station. He was arrested and escorted to Sparendaam Police Station.
