The Guyana Table Tennis Association (GTTA) will be hosting the 2022 Caribbean Mini Pre Cadet Table Tennis Championships during the period 14 to 19 October 2022, at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall Homestretch Avenue G/town Guyana.
The Caribbean Mini and Pre Cadet championships engage players between the ages of 11 and 13. It has been the ignitor and incubator for the development of regional table tennis since it commences the beginning of the first steps taken into the journey/career for many of our players at Caribbean level.
Over the last two years the competition has taken on a different level of importance to regional table tennis development. The absence of the competition has robbed players across the region from vying for regional table tennis supremacy.
In addition, administrators indicated that their development programs at this level has suffered a negative impact from the non-hosting of the games.
This championship provides Guyana the opportunity as host to expose and showcase thirty-two (32) pre cadet players– 8 Boys and 8 Girls in the 11 years and under Category; 8 Boys and 8 Girls in the 13 years and under category.
The association will be promoting and working with young talented players as an asset for future success and growth of the sport, as the organization embarks on the road of excellence growth and enhancing the well-being of the game itself.
In this regard, the GTTA has selected some of its emerging, talented, disciplined and brightest prospects to represent Guyana at this engagement. The association’s plan is to use this championship as a catalyst/stimuli to jump start synchronize and market our national cadet and development programs.
Teams will be arriving from Jamaica, Barbados, Trinidad and Tobago Grenada St Lucia and St. Vincent
Action will be daily at the Cliff Anderson sports hall starting 10 am to 12:30 pm and 2:30pm to 6:00 pm.
Matches will start with team events doubles and mixed doubles and conclude with singles in the respective age categories. First set of matches will start on Friday with the formal Opening slated for Saturday 15th October at 3 pm
