Four women who alleged dosed another woman with acid have been remanded to jail on a charge of attempted murder.
The four, Jennifer Validen, Gailann Marks-Aliyah, Alana Holder and Latifa DaCosta all appeared before Sherdel Isaacs-Marcus. They were not required to enter a plea to the charge.
According to the charge all four of the accused on January 21, last, at Princes Street, Georgetown, caused grievous bodily harm to Renesha Maxwell with intent to murder her.
Reports are that on the day in question Ms. Maxwell took a taxi from Leopold Street. As she was traveling, she observed a car following her vehicle. She told the driver to stop and when he did, she alleged that the four females exited the trailing car and approached her.
One of the females then threw a liquid on her and she immediately felt a burning sensation about her body and began to scream.
She was rushed to the GPHC where she was treated by Dr. Yearwood and admitted with burns to her back and left hand.
Later a wanted bulletin was issued for all of the accused who later turned themselves over to the police in the company of their lawyers.
In court today, the Attorneys representing the four accused asked for bail.
Bail, however, was objected to by the Police Prosecutor, on the ground that liquid substance was thrown on the victim even after they made an attempt before on Leopold earlier that day.
Someone shouted out to the victim and caused her to jump in a Taxi and flee.
The attackers followed the taxi and blocked the driver from moving. They came out with the substance and threw it on the victim, burning the victim and damaging the car in the process.
The victim remains hospitalized at the moment.
As such, Magistrate Isaacs-Marcus remanded all the accused to jail until February 25.
