Minister of Labour, Joseph Hamilton, is currently interacting with residents of Anna Catherina, Stewartville, and Cornelia Ida communities on the West Coast of Demerara, Region Three to discuss the government’s comprehensive work agenda for 2024.

The minister was accompanied by Mr. Julius Faerber, Chairman of Local Government Commission and other regional officials.

While informing residents about what they may expect from the newly passed $1.146 trillion budget, he also used the opportunity to discuss the PPP/C Administration’s robust plan to serve its people since taking office in August 2020.

One of those accomplishments, he stated, is the government’s ability to meet more than 60 per cent of the legal demands, including substantial salary increases and duty-free concessions, as detailed in the multi-year agreement.

As a result, he encouraged both teachers and students to return to the classroom, where teachers can make a difference in their students’ lives.

Minister Hamilton reiterated that the government regards the strike action as illegal and, more importantly, a political effort by individuals who aim to hinder the country’s progress.

The Labour Minister will resume his community outreach tomorrow, February 13th, 2024, in Wakenaam, Region Three.

The Region has allocated some $5B budget this year, to execute its work programme.
