Three days after a Guyana Revenue Authority (GRA) Staff was allegedly stabbed to death by his Landlady’s son over him and his family being evicted, the murder accused was today charged and remanded to prison for the murder.
The accused, 45-year-old Rawle Lamazon of Durban Back Lands Squatting Area Georgetown, appeared in the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court before the Chief Magistrate, Ann McLennan, and was not required to plead to the indictable charge.
According to the Police, Lamazon on July 12, last, at Middleton Street, Campbellville, Georgetown, brutally stabbed 24-year-old, Dwayne Daniel Taitt, a Guyana Revenue Authority Customs Officer to death.
Lamazon was remanded to prison until August 12 for the continuation of his matter.
Four days ago, Taitt was at home with his reputed wife and young daughter when the landlady, Jaqueline Lamazon informed him that she wanted him out of the apartment by July 14.
Hours after receiving a verbal notice from his landlord to pack up and move out of her apartment, the young family was confronted by the murder accused.
It was just afternoon when they were awakened by the landlord’s son knocking on the door with a piece of wood and shouting that they needed to move out of the apartment.
Taitt reportedly went out of the apartment to inquire about the reason for the ruckus when he was attacked with a knife and stabbing to the chest.
Taitt then attempted to run after his attacker but collapsed a short distance away from the house.
He was picked up by his reputed wife and a security guard in the area and rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
