Five days after an altercation between two minibus touts turned deadly at the route 44 Bus Park, the murder accused today appeared before the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court and was remanded to prison.
The accused 27-year-old minibus tout, Paul Junior Lynch, of Bachelor’s Adventure, East Coast Demerara, appeared before Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan and was not required to enter a plea to the indictable charge.
It is alleged that on December 15, 2021, at Commerce Street, Georgetown, he murdered 30-year-old Morven Nurse, a minibus conductor of Haslington, ECD.
Lynch was represented by Eusi Anderson, Esther Osborne, and Khawn Rodney.
According to reports on the day in question, the two men had an argument at the park that quickly escalated. Lynch reportedly armed himself with a knife and two bricks, while Nurse armed himself with a beverage case.
With being both armed, a crowd gathered with their cell phones out taping the scuffle.
During the scuffle, Nurse was stabbed twice to the region of his heart and later collapsed while Lynch made his escape.
A nurse was then rushed to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
Lynch after the issue of a wanted bulletin turned up with his lawyer at the Brickdam Police Station, where he was arrested and later charged.
In court today, the attorneys representing the defendant said that he suffers from kidney failure and would require to be medically looked after while on remand.
The attorney also noted that during the fight, Lynch also sustained head injuries.
With his medical condition noted, Lynch was remanded until February 21, 2022.
