QC students prevented from event to remember Forbes Burnham

Students of Q.C, and other schools, are being prevented from attending an event that offers them an opportunity to learn more about the life and times of Linden Forbes Sampson Burnham, O.E, S.C.
Mr. Burnham, a former student of Q.C served as Guyana’s first Minister of Education, the first Prime Minister of Independent Guyana, and the first Executive President of the Cooperative Republic of Guyana.
He was a nationalist, a patriot, and a man of the people. He was said to be a man ahead of his time. He was a founding father of CARIFTA, and a founder of CARICOM. Burnham was voted the Caribbean Man of the Century.
All of the foregoing, notwithstanding, the current Ministry of Education has done all that it can to ensure that the students of Q.C do not attend the events.
The actions of the Ministry of Education tell the sordid story of a vindictive government, led by myopic people, sprinting away from their own shadows, according to the political opposition.
“No amount of maneuvers of this type can change our country’s history. Burnham’s life works are evident everywhere and in every sector or our country. Let the students ask their parents and grandparents about their pensions paid by the NIS every month,” the PNCR stated.
The government’s actions amplify the emptiness of their “One Guyana” screams, and graphically demonstrate the presence of a division so wide that political posturing and propaganda cannot mend.
