Ranks from Regional Police Division #3 were performing security duty at the Leonora Stadium, West Coast Demerara, around 23:00 hrs Saturday when they intercepted and searched a 42-year-old man who was acting suspiciously.

The officer and ranks were at the main gate of the stadium where a show was being held when a man whose name was later learnt to be Teon Allen, called ‘Spoil Child’. He was no stranger to the Law.

As a result, he was stopped and asked to subject himself to a search. Despite some resistance, Police managed to search him and the bag he was carrying. He was found to have a 9MM Pistol along with a magazine containing eighteen live 9MM rounds of ammunition in the bag.

He was asked if he had a license to carry the said Firearm and he refused to cooperate.

He was then arrested and escorted to the Leonora Police station. Today he was charged for the Possession of Firearm Without Licence and the Possession of Ammunition Without License

Allen appeared at the Leonora Magistrate’s Court before Magistrate Zameena Ali-Seepaul.

He pleaded not guilty after the charges were read to him and he was remanded to prison until March 27th.

Allen was in 2020 charged for the murder of his girlfriend. The charge was discharged. He had been on remand for three years in prison.

He was discharged on legal advice from the Department of Public Prosecution.
