–says he was threatened by another friend that he would kill him if he says anything

Human bones suspected to be those of 22-year-old Shaquille Akeem Jones, called “Botha”, of Lot 44 Inner Bagotville, West Bank Demerara (WBD), who vanished since November last year, were recovered by police detectives, on Monday, on a farm at Cone Shop Street, La Grange.

The discovery was made after a 16-year-old male went to the La Grange Police Station on Sunday and told cops that his friend, Jones, reportedly died after he was electrocuted on a farm since November 2023 at La Grange.

The teen while at the police station told cops that he cannot recall the exact date but in the month of November last year himself, and his friends Jones, and another male identified only as ‘Timothy’ colluded with each other to go and steal citrus fruits from a farm in Cone Shop Street, La Grange, WBD.

The 16-year-old went on to say, that as they approached the first farm, they were confronted by the owner, who chased them with a cutlass, causing them to run further down the dam to another farm.

As they approached the said farm, they jumped over the mesh fence and heard Jones scream out “ahh.” The boy said that is when he realized that Jones was being shocked by some sort of electricity on the fence.

As a result, the teen and Timothy took a piece of wood and tried to remove Jones from the fence. In the process, the teenager also received a shock to his foot.

After making efforts to move Jones which were not successful he and Timothy hid behind a mango tree and waited out the night until the next morning when it was clear enough for them to get out of the farm.

The teenager further said the following morning, just as the place began to get bright, he saw Godfrey Carrington walking into his farm and picking fruits, and then he saw Jones laying on the ground. Carrington, the boy, added, then walked out back to the front and returned with a sheet in his hands, wrapped up Jones and dragged him more into the farm, and disappeared.

As a result, he said himself, and Timothy waited a while, and they left, but whilst leaving, he was allegedly threatened by Timothy that he would kill him if he told anyone what happened.

As a result, ranks went to the location in Cone Shop Street, La Grange, WBD.

On arrival, contact was made with the said Carrington, 59, a Contractor/Farmer of lot 71 Unity Street, La Grange. He later accompanied the said ranks in company of the teenager into his Farm, where he pointed out the area on the farm where he saw Jones was electrocuted, however there were physical changes to the fence, which Carrington, admitted that he demolished his old fence and erected a new fence with barbed wire.

Carrington was taken into police custody.

On Monday, detectives went to the 59-year-old man’s property and combed the area. They then proceeded to the back of this property and discovered an area that appeared to be a fire heap. The fire heap contained several pieces of burnt tires, and upon closer examination, ranks observed several suspected human bones, including what appeared to be a human skull.

The skull had what appeared to be fire damage. The bones were scattered across the fire heap, with some bones of the limbs being scattered more than forty feet south of the fire heap. Additionally, among the fire heap, ranks observed what appeared to be a piece of burnt denim jeans and a piece of male underwear.

After the discovery was made about 19:50 hours last night an interview was conducted with Carrington where he blurted out: “Boss hear wah. I had current on meh farm fuh keep off dem youth man wah always thieving fruits from my farm but I tek it off some time late November last year because I come home a afternoon from wuk and see one a dem hook up on the fence like he get electrocute.

Investigations are ongoing.
