19th Chinese brigade donates US100,000 in items to health ministry.

Over the weekend the 19th Chinese medial brigade donated approximately US$100,000 worth of items to the Health Ministry.

The medical supplies were distributed to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC), Linden Hospital Complex and New Amsterdam Hospital to offer specialized care in the Departments of Obstetrics and Gynecology for Cervical Cancer screening.

Among the items donated were HPV Testing Kits, Plate Sealers, Absorbent Papers, Vortex mixers, an HPV test system along with an HPV collection medium and specimens rock.

Health Minister DR. Frank Anthony stated that cervical cancer can be prevented by using the HPV vaccine, and the Ministry will roll out this programme this year. Additionally, all regional hospitals will be equipped to screen for cervical cancer. Minister Anthony said.

Meanwhile, Robbie Rambarran, Chief Executive Officer of GPHC, expressed his gratitude to the Chinese Medical Brigade team for their unwavering support over the years.

In attendance were Dr Guo Haiyan, Ambassador for the People’s Republic of China to Guyana; Dr Zhao Changyong, Head of the 19th Chinese Medical Brigade; Dr Guy Low, and other Health Officials.
