Health Minister engages US Delegation on the implementation of SAGES

Health Minister, Dr Frank Anthony, along with a team of officials from the Ministry of Health, yesterday met with a delegation from the US Southern Command & Johns Hopkins University to discuss the implementation of a Surveillance Software Platform called SAGES.

This digital platform will aid in monitoring and analyzing data for diseases or public health threats in Guyana. It collates well with the government plan of eliminating certain diseases from the country by 2030.

Among the visiting delegation were Dr Shraddha Patel and Dr Miles Stewart, from Johns Hopkins University, Gerald Surrett, Command Surgeon from the US Southern Command who was accompanied by Kylie Marks from the agency.

Among those from the Ministry were Chief Medical Officer, Dr Narine Singh; Director of Primary Healthcare Services, Dr Ertensia Hamilton; International Health Regulations NFP Coordinator, Dr Anand Persaud and Hinterland Coordinator, Michael Gouveia.
