Tracey Flue bade (pronounced bad) goodbye to her three children on Tuesday. The children tragically lost their lives after their home caught fire at North Barnwell, Mocha Arcadia, East Bank Demerara (EBD) last week.
Laid to rest are eight-year-old Timothy Kippins, six-year-old Triston Kippins and one-year-old Zhalia Flue. Their funeral service was held at the Lyken Funeral Home, Georgetown. Two blue caskets bore the remains of the brothers, while their sister was placed in a pink casket.
The mother of the children was offered words of prayer and support from Opposition Leader Aubrey Norton and Member of Parliament, and Government Ministers Dr. Vindyha Persaud and Sonia Parag, who all attended the funeral service.
The three children were trapped in the burning, one-flat wooden building, at the time, while their mother, Tracy Flue, a security guard, was at work.
According to a statement released by the Fire Service, the department received a call at 1:25 hours on May 26 and was alerted to a fire at 10 Field Barnwell Mocha, East Bank Demerara.
However, when the first water tender arrived at the location, the truck was unable to access the home, due to the poor condition of the dam.
The Guyana Fire Service’s investigation found that the fire was triggered by an electrical problem.
